What sets this assessment apart from others is that it not only looks at speed but also assesses features such as automaticity, word/number/letter/join formation, spatial awareness and sentence awareness.
The assessment will also review progress against the statutory requirements for Year 6, listed below.
Pupils should be taught to write legibly, fluently and with increasing speed by:
• choosing which shape of a letter to use when given choices and deciding whether or not to join specific letters
